About Us

DanceKids is a creative, educational program that uses dance as a tool to assist in the development of environmental and cultural awareness in young people. Every program is extensively researched to give factual, high quality learning experiences.

Our mission is to provide –

The Director of DanceKids, Sue Jones, is a very experienced and fully qualified dance teacher with a background in Biological Sciences. She has worked as a research assistant at both La Trobe University (Melbourne) and James Cook University (North Queensland) and is currently working part-time teaching classical ballet at National Capital Ballet School. Sue has been commissioned by The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, CSIRO, Australian National Botanic Gardens, Wet Tropics Management Authority, Questacon and The National Museum of Australia to present programs for children.

DanceKids Instructors must have a sound background in dance (or related fields), an ability to interact with young children in a positive, professional and caring manner and must have a Police Check carried out. They are required to attend an intensive training course gaining an in depth knowledge of all programs and assist an experienced instructor in the delivery of several sessions prior to delivering programs on their own.
Instructors are given a detailed instructional DVD with supporting notes for each theme as part of their basic equipment.
